A whole month as Robins!

Well, unbelievably your little robins are now a full month into their time in Year 1.

I think they would all agree that the highlight of the term so far has been our Rugbytots sessions from Paul which they have all absolutely loved. We have used games to learn all about teamwork, spatial awareness and how to carry the rugby ball and have had loads of fun as well as learning important skills.

In Maths we have been focusing on number and representing them using a variety of apparatus. We have begun to use the part part whole model too. A clear understanding of low numbers and how they are made up will help us as we move to working with larger numbers later in the term.

Welcome to Robins

Welcome to Robin Class. The children have settled brilliantly and have been working and playing hard with some fabulous home learning too which we have loved seeing.

In English we have been working hard on our focus sounds and have even done our very first Big Write. In maths we have been looking at ordering numbers and finding 1 more and 1 less, as well as learning to say the days of the week.

We had a very special ‘taster session’ PE lesson yesterday from Paul at Rugby Tots Bath which all the children loved. So much so, in fact, that we will be having a session each Thursday until the end of this term. Please make sure your child has suitable footwear in school- trainers rather than daps if possible please especially if the weather gets wetter. Photos to follow soon.

Thank you for all the time you are putting into learning at home with your robin. Lots of children are zooming around the race track. Similarly homework- lots of amazing stuff going on, but if you are struggling to support your child with this, please come and talk to one of us as we may be able to help. Working with your child at home- even for just a few minutes- really is so vital to enable them to reach their full potential.
